John 21:17
The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. …”
Day 21 - Restoration that brings revival
Previously when Jesus had been arrested, Peter was accused 3 times of being a follower of Jesus, but he denied knowing Jesus 3 times.
Jesus was then convicted, died a painful & shameful death on the cross and rose again 3 days later.
Surprisingly, Jesus was not bitter at those who denied him or ran away in his time of need, neither did he seek revenge.
Jesus asks Peter 3 times whether he loves him, and 3 times Peter affirms his love for Jesus. That's the power of God's love and forgiveness. It takes us back and restores us, then revives us so that others may also be renewed.
Think on it:
How often have you let Christ down by walking away from his love and living as if you do not know Jesus?
Pray that you receive His undeserved forgiveness and restoration.
Well done for completing this journey through the book of John!
